Bangladesh Biman Airline decision to buy 10 large aircraft from Airbus

Biman Bangladesh Airlines: The state owned airline of Bangladesh, has decided to buy 10 large (wide body) aircraft from the French aircraft manufacturer Airbus.

We have decided to buy 10 aircraft considering our needs. Bangladesh Deputy Aviation Minister Mehboob Ali told Reuters on Monday.

He also said that the technical committee is reviewing in this regard.

The Deputy Aviation Minister statement comes at a time when sources are saying that Biman Airlines is close to signing a deal to buy A-350 aircraft from Airbus.

It is not clear whether the aforementioned agreement, will be completed in time during the Paris Airshow which begins today.

Airbus declined to comment while Biman Airlines, did not respond to queries.

Mr Mehboob Ali said that every country has both Airbus and Boeing aircraft. But there is no Airbus aircraft in our fleet.

Bangladesh state owned airline is trying to reduce its dependence on American aircraft maker Boeing. Orders for wide body aircraft are largely monopolized by the Boeing Company.

The 51 year old Bangladeshi airline has more than 20 aircraft in its fleet. The majority of which are Boeing Company aircraft.

Airline Bangladesh is in need of larger aircraft at a time when the full recovery of air travel is accelerating after the Corona epidemic.

Biman Airlines operates direct flights to 20 destinations including the United Kingdom Malaysia Canada and Thailand.
